Privacy Policy

Club Footie Limited is the place where children can play football-based games, take football challenges enter competitions, win prizes and interact with friends through Player (Avatar) characters in a safe environment.

Club Footie believes in the power of children and we urge both them and their parents to use and enjoy our site. Whilst we encourage the interactive nature of online media, we strive to educate parents and children about how to appropriately safeguard their privacy when travelling on the web.

Our information collection practices are described below. We urge children to check with their parents before entering any information on any website and we urge parents to discuss with their children restrictions regarding the online release of personal information to anyone they don’t know.

What Information Is Collected?

The data controller for the purposes of UK data protection legislation is Club Footie Limited (“we” or “us” or “our”). The ways we collect user’s (“you” or “your” or “user”) personal information and how we use it on the site are as follows:

1. Sign Up

If you decide to Sign Up as a member all we ask is for the user to provide a username (not your own) and password, your age, gender, the football teams you support and/or play for, choose a Player (Avatar) to represent you on the site and parental email address if the child is under 13, where we will then send an activation email to the parent which includes fields for financial data. Those children aged 13 or over are able to put in their own email address as well as their parents. Activated users can cancel their account at any time. To cancel, please contact us using the form in the contact us section of this website.

Club Footie does not disclose personal information – your online Player is an Avatar and is not a real name. We take measures so that users cannot communicate personal information through messaging functions. These measures include filters and live moderation.

All such personal information collected during the Sign Up process is used only for the purpose of providing children with full access to the sites features. It is not our policy to use such information for general marketing purposes or to share such information with third parties (except in relation to competitions as set out below or where we are required to do so by law or in the context of a business transfer). Should our policy on this change, we will let you know and give you the choice to be included.

2. Player (Avatar) Interaction

Signed Up users or members will then have access to the following features on the site:

a) My Footie Zone is an area where your Player (Avatar) resides and you can keep track of your progress on Club Footie listing the points or Footie Balls you have accumulated; where you are in the leagues; your achievements and best scores in the Divisions you have played in.

In this area you can: see how many Footie Balls you have accumulated; suggest questions for use in the Club Footie 90 Second Challenges; keep a track of the leagues you are in; keep a track of the teams you play for.

Each Player will have a My Locker page where they keep: the Trophies they have won; the virtual merchandise they have bought with Footie Balls including shirts, boots, sunglasses, hats, and backgrounds.

b) Players have the opportunity to visit other Player My Footie Zones and press a Fan button if they think the Player’s page is cool. The highest rated our most liked Players are listed in a league known as the Players Award League.

c) Players can post messages on each other’s site via a Talk Footie message board. These messages will be from a predetermined list. These are Players interacting not real profiles.

d) Players can invite other Players to be their fans – these Players would be listed on the Player’s "Players I Think Are Cool" page.

e) We give parents and children the option to send “electronic cards” to their friends and friends parents to encourage them to sign up to Club Footie and help them raise funds for their Clubs they play for. We do not collect our visitors’ full names, but we do collect email addresses during this process in order to inform the user that their e-card has been read. We also ask users to submit their friends’ email addresses so we can send them these e-cards. We think it would be disproportionate to inform user’s friend(s) about our privacy policy and how we will be using their personal data beforehand because it would spoil the surprise of receiving the friend’s electronic card. However, we can reassure users that this data is not transferred to a third party or used for marketing purposes and it is not kept for any longer than is necessary.

f) Players have the ability to win real prizes for themselves. If a Player wins a prize this will be sent to them via the adult who registered them.

g) Players have the ability to win real prizes for the clubs/teams they play for (see Funds 4 Football) through competitions.

3. Policing – Jef The Ref - Club Footie Referee

Club Footie encourages users to report any behaviour that could be construed to be bad practice. It rewards members who report bad behaviour with Footie Balls (points) for their Player. Any member using bad behaviour will be immediately removed from the site.

4. Orders

If you purchase a product or service from the Club Footie Shop, such as T-shirts, or Mugs, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on your order form. You must provide contact information (such as name, email address, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card information and expiration date).

5. Agents/Service Providers

We use other third parties such as a shipping company to fulfil orders, and a credit card processing company to bill you for goods and services. We use email and the telephone to assist you if you have questions while using our site or regarding your order. When you sign up, we will share your email address, country of residence, and Club Footie Account ID as necessary for the third party to provide that service.

These third parties are prohibited from using your personally identifiable information for promotional purposes.

6. Competitions

We offer the opportunity for those children who have activated their account to enter competitions on-line. In order to run competitions and send out prizes, we will contact the person using the email address provided during the activation process. At this point, it may be necessary to gather more information in order to fulfil the prize delivery; this can include name, address and telephone number. As a matter of policy, we keep such information only for the purposes of administering the competition and do not disclose such information to third parties except where necessary to fulfil the prizes (e.g. it may be shared with fulfilment houses for processing purposes). We may from time to time offer competitions sponsored by third party businesses and may share entrant information with such businesses in order to fulfil the competition only. We will provide potential entrants with the opportunity to opt-in to such third party sponsored competitions. Once a competition is finished, we will delete any additional personal information collected.

7. Funds 4 Football

The Club Footie mission is to provide valuable funds and equipment for grass roots children’s football clubs. We do this through Funds 4 Football.

Through Club Footie children can use Footie Balls (points) accumulated to win equipment and prizes for their football club or school team.

Club Footie allows children to have fun and help their clubs at the same time – the majority of which are in desperate need of funds for kits, equipment, day to day running Funds 4 Football is primarily aimed at Clubs and School football teams i.e. to open a Funds 4 Football account a representative of the Club or School must register.

In order for children’s Footie Balls (points) accumulated through Club Footie Challenges to qualify for Funds 4 Football an adult has to register the club, league or school they play for.

When registering for Funds 4 Football we take: the Club/School Name; the adults name; email address; relationship with the club, league or school i.e. coach, manager, chairman, teacher; club logo; club address.

All social interaction on Funds 4 Football is between adults.

Children are able to see where their Club, League or School team is in the Funds 4 Football Leagues through the My Footie Zone area and Live Scoreboard.
